The old rivalry is back at the Roland Garros 2011 Men’s Singles final as world number one and defending champion Rafael Nadal faces world number three and 16-time Slam champion Roger Federer in the title match. It was a match-up that was a bit surprising but not unexpected with pundits believing that it will be a Nadal vs Novak Djokovic final with the latter on a 43-0 win streak.
However, Federer has other plans. The former top-ranked player prevailed in a four-set semifinal marathon against Djokovic with a score of 7-5, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. This also prevented Novak Djokovic from automatically getting the world number one ranking as he needs to reach the final in order to do so. However, the Serbian world number two can still become number one if Nadal fails to defend the title.
